Rainy days and Chole

Rain rain go away come again another day......

It has been raining on and off for about ten days now. Honestly it feels like we're living back in Melbourne. The weather there was terrible. The weather app on my phone says its going to partially cloudy tomorrow. I really do hope it is. I miss the sun. I have never like the winter months. Always been a summer child.

Now since its a cold and rainy day I thought it would be nice to cook some Chole Puri (Chickpea and Fried Roti) Its a very tasty popular Indian Breakfast dish and very popular in my little family.

Now my Chole is fairly easy. First I fry some Jeera Seed (Cumin Seed) and Hing in some hot oil, to that I add some chopped onion and cook until translucent. Next I add finely chopped Garlic and Ginger. I cook this for about two to three minutes. I then add my spices, turmeric, cumin powder, fresh green chilli and salt to taste. I then add my pre-soaked Chick pea and enough water to cover about half an inch above the chick pea in a Whistle Cooker. I cook this for 16 whistles and Voila.

After having a lovely lunch we had some amazing Maggie's Pudding for dessert. Its a pudding that my Aunty use to make for some lovely old people in a nursing home a long time ago and is very yummy. My mum had made this one. We had it with Ice cream and Banana flavoured Angels Delight (I call it Banana Fluff).

Our little boy is starting to feel better. Today he played a lot with his toys and was his happy little self again. His cough has gotten a little better and his sniffles are starting to clear. Well and truly on the mend again. He tried some Ice cream and Banana fluff today when we were having our dessert. He loves Banana Fluff.

The little one is sleeping now. Snuggled up with one of his new fluffy blanket his Aggie (my Mum) got him yesterday. I'm going to heat up some milk and curl up myself.

Good night all.

Love Ya's

  1. Please send the rain our way. We haven't had any rain since early March and it is so dry and dusty out here.
